Door of Hope, a Christian charity originally established under the auspices of YWAM, works in the East End of London among street sex workers. The work can be harrowing and intense; typically every single sex worker will require months, if not years, of support. And the need is enormous: there are an estimated 150 – 250 women involved in street prostitution independently in London’s East End alone.
Since spring 2006, Door of Hope has been operating in partnership with Keychange but still retaining its separate legal status as a charity (Charity No.1105463). The work of Door of Hope continues to rely entirely on raising funds from concerned individuals and organisations.
“All the women we contact are isolated, vulnerable and struggling with enormous issues; some are as young as 12. You don’t have to think about this for very long to understand why we feel so passionately about what we are called to do. We are so grateful to Keychange for enabling Door of Hope to continue its ministry.”
