The work of Keychange is often difficult - our staff members
are dealing with battered people whose emotions are raw. However,
when we see the rewards of lives healed and relationships
restored every effort is worthwhile.
Hear briefly from two people who we have helped:
Katrina, an ex-resident of Reigate, came to us after a violent
and abusive husband drove her from her home and her son.
"When I left my home I simply prayed that God would
take me somewhere safe. Once I moved into Wayside, this so
called 'hostel' became my home. Today I have a management
position; I have bought a computer; moved into a flat, fought
for my divorce and have access to my child. This is all thanks
to the love and support I received at Wayside. Now I work
at Wayside doing weekend evening duties."
Diana lived in Southampton for most of her adult life
and had attended church regularly. In 1991 she had been a
widow for 4 years, her health was failing and she was finding
it increasingly difficult to look after her house.
"Moving to Fair Havens was the best thing I could
have done. The staff were very gentle and compassionate with
me. They helped me to sort out the business with my house.
It was like a great weight being lifted from me when I no
longer had to worry about the upkeep of my old home."
