On 24th March Joan celebrated her 101st birthday. She was delighted with her cards, presents, flowers and home-made cake and commented: “Everyone is so kind.” As a newborn, Joan survived the Spanish Flu and as a centenarian she also survived the Global Pandemic COVID-19.
Earlier in the month on the first day (8th March) family could finally come inside our home and touch their loved ones was an emotional affair. To mark the occasion worldwide celebrity, Pam, hit the headlines again! (She had first appeared in the press on Christmas Day 2020). Pamela was so amused and had a blast taking the photos, saying “It’s lucky I’m on the ground floor or my girl would be climbing up the walls to see me.” Many other relatives have now been able to come in too and the effect is reflected in the perky smiles and a newfound spring in the steps of the people who live here. A special thank you to Nicky and Pam who have been great sports. Here’s to making more headlines in the future! Also thank you to Reuters and photographer Hannah McKay for the beautiful pictures.
Our Mums were certainly spoiled on Mothering Sunday (14th March) with flowers, gifts and plenty of love. The Mums enjoyed their day and celebrated with music, special iPad calls and of course, chocolate.
