We have spent many happy hours in our beautiful garden over these summer months. The main picture shows people living at Alexander House enjoying afternoon tea on the lawn, while reminiscing about past times and talking about the sunny weather.
On 22nd June a theatre group visited and gave us a great performance: “The Jubilee Singer”. Again, the garden was a beautiful backdrop for this occasion.
For Care Home Open Week, we held another Garden Party – on 2nd July. Before the party began, we did a bit of warm-up dance – Jo happily joined us and danced very well. She seemed to really enjoy it. Later one of our volunteers played a couple of classical music pieces by piano. Everybody enjoyed it, especially Vassiliki – a lot of her family members work in the music industry.
We were back in the garden again for some finger exercises. Prudence said this movement looked like photo-shooting!
But when it came to those very hot days later in July, we stayed inside with the blinds down. We tried to do some indoor activities to cope with the heat. Mia, the new volunteer came to do some colouring with the residents. After the hard work in colouring, Pamela asked: “Are we going to get some ice cream for reward?” A very fitting reward on such a hot day!
