“Welcome to Overdale – if you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing do call me on 0114 255 0257 or email ”
To Everyone caring for me – if you are lucky, you might see me again – THANK YOU for all your support and kindness. Thank you for looking after me so well. – lady who came for respite care.
Overdale is situated in a leafy conservation area of Sheffield.
Overdale was opened in 1930 as the result of a bequest by Miss Edith Mary Younge, a Sheffield lady who died just after the second world war.
One of the main aims of the home is to provide a warm family atmosphere based on Christian loving kindness.
Today Overdale is a modern residential home where the highest standards are upheld. The home manager, Theresa Kennelly and deputy manager, Lucy Rogers are very experienced in caring for older people.
Only 5 miles from the Peak National Park, Overdale was originally 2 Victorian houses which were later extended into one home, keeping many of its original features.
It boasts lovely grounds with lots of trees, shrubs and lawns, which we share with our tenanted Bungalows.
There is a large car park at the rear of the home and is close to the City centre with all its amenities.
A profile and independent report about Overdale may be found at the Care Quality Commission. Overdale regularly scores highly in the inspections undertaken by this organisation.
Two large Victorian houses were linked together in 1993 to form one home which can accommodate 25 residents. There are four lounges, a dining-room, and a dedicated activity room. The home has both en-suite & standard rooms. Two passenger lifts serve all floors and several toilets and bathrooms are designed for disability.
Self Contained Bungalows
We also have five self contained bungalows situated within our grounds. The bungalows provide a unique energy to our home, and are specifically designed to serve those who wish to keep their own independence whilst at the same time not be too far away from a safe, happy Christian community.
Overdale is more than a residential home. It is a community consisting of residents, their friends and relatives, the occupants of the bungalows, staff and the management committee. Each person brings something special to the life of the community and for many of us the rewards of belonging to this safe, happy community are high.
