Meet the Manager Kirsty Tocknell
“Welcome to Walmer House – if you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing please call me on 01803 292734 or email ”
We are very pleased with all the loving care that … the staff at Walmer House have provided; that love and care extending not only to J. but also towards all those who visited her … Thank you for all the kindness and support that you and your colleagues, including the residents that J. had grown close to, have shown the family since May 2022, when J. first joined you.
Walmer House has 17 rooms, 15 of them with en-suite facilities.
Built in the latter half of the 19th century, Walmer House was transferred to the Christian Alliance for Women & Girls (as Keychange was then known) in the 1920s and thus has belonged to the charity the longest of all our properties. Before becoming a care home, Walmer House was used as a guest house and holiday home.
Walmer House is built on one of Torquay’s 7 hills and commands impressive vistas of the bay from its high vantage point. Sea views are available from some of the rooms. Local taxi drivers know it as “the place where there are pineapples on the gate posts”. The entrance hall has the commanding feature of a wide and winding staircase to the upper floors, and both hall and staircase benefit from new carpets. Other recent refurbishments and developments include state-of-the-art assisted bathing facilities and associated improvements.
The garden has been one of the home’s attractive features for many years with beautiful flower beds and large, gently sloping lawns. The summer house completes the outside amenities.
