As well as celebrating Keychange’s 100th birthday, last month one of our resident’s turned the century as well. (Charles) Bill Russell has been in our community for a while now and he celebrated being 100 years young on 14th January with a family party, which was held for him in our lounge. Over the course […]
Our residents enjoyed making these Valentine decorations and choosing words of God’s love from the Bible to top them.
This has been a busy year so far, and it’s only February! Just before the end of last year we had a visit from Santa’s little helper which really made the day for our residents. We started the year with a bang by lighting fireworks, singing and sharing a drink on New Year’s Eve. It […]
On 8th January, The South West Lindy Hoppers visited. They show us their moves, but encourage residents and staff to join in and learn the dances. At Cressingham House a couple of things we did recently were celebrating Chinese New Year with a Chinese takeaway and by decorating the tables for the occasion. The residents and staff had a great time. We also had a baking afternoon, and the residents enjoyed making cupcakes.
Some bunnies came to visit Walmer House and hopped into the lounge and individual bedrooms to see the residents.
At the end of November during the Keychange conference, the annual Keychange awards were presented to those who were present in person at the awards dinner and accepted by a community representative on behalf of those who were not there. Alexander House won three awards altogether in 2019; one of them was in the category […]
This year Central Office staff paid a Christmas visit further afield and took the train to Southampton to visit Fair Havens. We received a warm welcome from the people living and working there. As the photographs show, the residents were very willing to engage and share their home with the visitors from London. We participated […]
