Barbara was invited to her grandson’s wedding on 7th June. The bride-to-be contacted us to ask how we could make this possible. We decided, as a home, to facilitate a whole wedding testing programme, to ensure safety for all. We supplied PCR tests to all invitees, and registered them the weekend before, and all people participating in the wedding took a Lateral Flow test on the morning of the wedding.
Barbara had a lovely shopping outing with our activities co-ordinator, Bev Roberts, and bought a new dress, handbag and hair fascinator.
To be able to do this for a person who lives with us was amazing, and quite emotional. In a year where we have had to carefully balance the safety of the home against individual rights and wishes, it was wonderful to have the resources to facilitate living and celebrating life – and what better than a wedding! Many thanks to the senior staff at Rose Lawn for liaising with the family, and for collecting and registering all the data – above and beyond!
Barbara spent the day with her family, celebrating the new union. On return, Barbara said that it was “Just beautiful to be involved with, and I would not have missed it for the world..”
