We looked back at 2021 with so much thankfulness in spite of the continuing yet ever-changing Covid situation. Here are a few of the many highlights from the past year:
In September we were thrilled to be able to hold our first Open Day in over two years! The community event was a huge success attended by The Mayor and Mayoress of Merton, the local community and an ice cream van! We had musical performances from Emmanuel Church and entertainment provided by DJ Dave.
Week after week our dear volunteer Debs continued to deliver her outstanding ‘Prayers and Hymns’ which is always a highlight to the week.
Vibrant Communities have really improved the lives of many of the people who live with us by making us feel included and encouraged to enjoy the varied programme. None more so than Kirsten. She refers to the hosts as her ‘friends’. Kirsten is really engaged in the programmes on offer especially the art and poetry clubs. She enjoys the tours and speaking to the hosts who are now firm fixtures in her life. Here’s to another year with Vibrant Communities!
Football fever hit Alexander House this year as England made it to the final of The World Cup! We cheered on other countries too and really got into the spirit of the games.
In celebrating Harvest we were inspired to give something back – everyone was so happy and enthusiastic to make up a food box for the local food bank. We also had a special Harvest service with ‘Praise, Prayer and Togetherness’.
We all like to get out and about as much as possible. Prudence loves our strolls along Wimbledon Common and we can’t resist checking out the local book store. The fresh crisp air really wakes us up and we chat about old times and new. Same time next week? Definitely!
