Wayside Community, Reigate

Transforming lives through the power of community

Unlocking the door

to a brighter future

When women come to Wayside,
they’re often at their lowest point.

Some have been living on sofas or in cars. Others are fleeing an abusive relationship, or have escaped trafficking. Many are trapped in poverty and feel desperate and alone.

But we show that there is hope.

We don’t just provide homes, we build communities

As a Christian organisation, we believe that every individual has dignity and worth.

For people to thrive, they need more than just a home. They need to be part of a community where they’re valued and known. Where they’re encouraged to experience new things, build new friendships, and live the fullest life possible.

We welcome everyone and embrace different beliefs, backgrounds and values – and the richness that brings.

Lauren's story

“When I was in foster care, it was like I was always waiting to be moved onto another temporary place, but being at Wayside feels different. I’m around wonderful people who are great reflections of what you should be like. I’m excited for my future now. Before I joined Wayside, I’d lost my peace within myself. I’ve now found that again.”

What we do:
providing long term support to break out of poverty

We provide safe, secure accommodation, with dedicated support always on hand. Our team helps residents navigate the complex world of housing and benefits, empowering them to develop skills to find work and support themselves. Together, we guide them on the path to finding a new home.

Real change takes time, and that’s why we’re with people for the long haul. Some are going through long court battles for custody of their child. Others are forced to wait months and even years to find a home.

When people become despondent, we’re there to pick them up and help them keep going.

No one should have to live on the streets,
or stay somewhere that isn’t safe
